About Us

An important part of the Lisbon / Cascais area scene, is the Royal British Club, this was founded in 1888 and received royal patronage in 1903, which it still maintains to this day.

Our club fosters a warm and welcoming social environment through its many events each year. These can be formal such as a cocktail party at the British Embassy and our Gala dinners, or they can be informative with guest speakers &/or presentations. These are often over an informal lunch at which possible new business connections can be made. We do however aim to provide many fun and relaxed activities. Examples include wine tasting at local vineyards, monthly “Happy Hours, the traditional Christmas lunch, a “treasure hunt car rally” and “meet-ups” for significant sporting events, e.g. 6 Nations Rugby, as well many others.

We try to be as varied and inclusive as possible, with all our activities, to ensure everyone has the opportunity to take part and enjoy themselves.

The club welcomes and encourages not just UK members but members of all nationalities to join up. The current membership typically resides in the Lisbon/Cascais/Estoril/Sintra areas as well as the Algarve. The variety of the event attendees will ensure you are never at a loss for what to do during the year and will have many opportunities to meet interesting people from all walks of life while making new friends along the way. Non-members are equally welcome at club events and we hope that the friendliness and quality of these activities encourages them to join soon after their introduction.
